7 health benefits of showgirl workouts

Earlier on I had a long introduction to exotic dancing, so check out that post here if you want to learn more about this art and sport. Today I would like to discuss 7 health benefits of showgirl workouts.

 

1.Enhance self-love

  It is better to start off with yourself when it comes to attention. Once you take care of yourself then you will have the drive to pay attention to other people. People will want to listen to you if they see that you are glowing, because they want to know how they can do it themselves.. I believe that this process starts with self-love because self-love means your need to provide self-attention and self-care before focusing on anybody else. This doesn’t mean that you are selfish since you want to support other people, however you can only do that if you feel that it is genuine. If you are drained by other people’s problems and by the lack of self-focus, then your support of other people can’t be real, if you think it. Exotic Dance is a huge help in this process because it allows you to get to know yourself and your body. In this way you will start the process of building a deep connection to yourself.

2.Staying in shape

Self-love is matter of understanding what is the right way to build a real connection with yourself is such an important element, and therefore I mentioned it first. However, let’s not forget about the huge topic of WEIGHT LOSS and how to stay in shape. Obviously, nutrition does matter and I will discuss healthy eating habits in future posts, but exotic dance is a significant support here too.

These three showgirl workouts helped me in keep in shape, and allows me to occasionally eat food that is not considered the most healthy but can be a treat after a workout.. With that said it is important to establish a healthy eating routine.

 3. Youthful look & Longevity

One important question in society:

„How I can stay young. How I can live a long and healthy life?

When I turned 34 years old recently, I started to feel the importance of these questions because I realized that I won’t be young forever …Although you won’t be able to stay 28 years old forever, I would be lying if I did say that there is a possibility of that. However, there is a possibility of keeping a youthful look and increase longevity. Dance in general is a great way to do that since there are quite a few famous dancers and choreographers who maintained a fresh appearance and lived for a very long time. Think about the very famous modern dancer and choreographer, Martha Graham.

When it comes to exotic dance, burlesque or pole dance I can mention a couple of examples:

 

4.Brings out the female power

This has been a very personal reason because the most essential motivator for me when it comes to exotic dancing is to feel my feminine power. I think it is a very important stage of our adult lives and for our womanhood to create a very healthy balance between:

  • The duties that we have to deal with on an everyday basis and
  • Our desires when it comes to showing off our beauty and sexuality

Even though these two energies don’t necessarily support each other, there is a balance which will be very individual, and therefore I can’t tell you how you should divide your time and attention between the two of them.

When it comes to working on bringing out your showgirl side what could be better than a showgirl workout? Ok, obviously one thing called sex appeal will be a very major element, but I am talking about teasing and creating a fantasy for other people. To practice that power I would recommend  showgirl workouts and dances.

5.Improving posture

Healthy and nice posture is another major health benefit of exotic dancing.

I am sure you have taken dance classes when you were a child and remember hearing from your teacher to keep a straight posture. It might have been overwhelming to keep hearing this as a child. However, as an adult we realize how important posture is.

As a result of working in front of computer we may encounter back pain and less ability to watch our posture while working. With regular dance classes I would recommend burlesque so you can bring your posture to the next level.

 6.Increase flexibility

Flexibility exercise and Exotic Dance come hand in hand. A lot of moves in chair dance, burlesque or even pole dance include splits, half splits and leaning which involves a lot of stretching. Most of the time dance classes include a stretching component where you will work on your flexibility. Not to mention that after every workout there is supposed to be a cool-down phase where you are supposed to stretch.

 7.And last but not least: Self-confidence boost

As a result of the above mentioned attributes self-confidence is probably the most important benefit of doing showgirl workouts. I can confirm this based on my personal experience. However, there are other things that I would like to mention here. Showgirl workouts, pole dance and burlesque classes are really helpful on your journey to acquire dancing skills.  It is important who you train with and where you have the opportunity to showcase your showgirl qualities. Even in this industry there are supportive coaches but also some that are not so supportive. What you will learn during the journey is to listen to your instincts. If you have a good feeling with a class environment or club environment (as a dancer) stay there, if something isn’t right move on. Environment of learning is super important.

With that said you may encounter learning environments that you feel is okay but not ideal. In such a case I would stick with those classes for a SHORT TERM, for as long as you learn something there. Don’t forget, that we are all different. Don’t get discouraged if something works for some of the people, but it doesn’t work for you. Never give up on learning 😊
